About the WNY Division of the USFA
Who we are
Our organization is one of the 67 divisions of
the United States Fencing Association (USFA), which is the National Governing Body (NGB) of the sport of fencing in the United States. Further, we are one of the 8 divisions that make up the North Atlantic Section of the USFA. We are
responsible for overseeing and sanctioning many of the fencing
activities that occur in Western New York. With member clubs in most of
the major metropolitan areas of the region, we endeavor to bring the
enjoyment of fencing to anyone who is interested.
What we do
The division supports fencing in WNY in a variety of ways including:
- Promoting the sport of fencing
- Educating and developing fencers, coaches, referees, and armorers
- Supporting fencing clubs
- Organizing and administering competitions within the division
- Promoting competitions outside the division
- Facilitating the objectives of the USFA
- Qualifying fencers to attend the Junior Olympic Championships (JOs)
- Qualifying fencers to attend the USFA Summer National Championships
